Miss G, The Private World of Greta Garbo

Miss G, The Private World of Greta Garbo LondonIf you’re anything like me and tend to enjoy watching silver screen films all weekend long, you might just appreciate this wonderful new collection on display in the fabulous Belmacz gallery. It gives a glimpse into the notoriously private world of Swedish screen siren Greta Garbo through items from her personal wardrobe including everything from elegant gloves, straw hats, dresses, handkerchiefs, a cooking apron, and a fabulously unique yoga suit.

Miss G, The Private World of Greta Garbo LondonThe collection also features some wonderful inspired-by pieces such as this terrific Stephen Jones jersey ski cap, inspired by a hat Garbo wore in the film Ninotchka (1939).

Miss G, The Private World of Greta Garbo London

Miss G, The Private World of Greta Garbo LondonFilm, glamour, style, fame, fortune and a secret admirer too? It seems like Miss G had it all as this silk scarf with a personal love telegram stating Greta I love you guess who I am -r seems to prove. I wonder who it could be from…

Miss G, The Private World of Greta Garbo, Belmacz GalleryGarbo may have been best known for her glamorous, feminine film persona but off camera she preferred to dress in more masculine attire. Letting Garbo’s personal flair be an inspiration for modern icons such as us, Manolo Blahnik created these ‘Piola’ brogues, which will be available to order for September delivery. Exciting, I’ll certainly be keeping a look out for them!

Chinoiserie-on-Sea, Stephen Jones

Darling Stephen Jones’s boutique in Covent Garden always puts a smile on my face. I’d love to see his fabulous fascinators and creations walking down the street next to me but mostly on my own head first! One has to prioritize, naturally!

In that case, I’d want the gorgeous hat to the left with feathers and then a lovely pink one that I saw from his spring/summer 2012 collection. He was inspired by Brighton and its Royal Pavilion so what better setting to wear the sparkling millinery masterpieces! If you have any doubts about me not being able to rock the white one, you’re seriously mistaken, I would look ultra chic! I’d even be tempted to pair it with an outfit that I created with a rather fierce black and white print.

Moment One at King’s Cross

Party in the house! Earlier this evening I attended Moment One, celebrating the opening of Central Saint Martins new site at the King’s Cross Campus. Alumni and industry figures from fashion, art, design, music, literature and performance came together, all in good cheer to mark the occasion.

In the LVMH theatre I met up with the darling milliner Stephen Jones, and fashion designer Hussein Chalayan. Super exciting and what a night! I also caught the launch event of Fab Gear: The Beatles & Fashion by Paolo Hewitt.

Stephen Jones Millinery

Almost immediately after getting off the flight I found myself outside the Stephen Jones Millinery Design Shop. I am a big fan of his work so it is always exciting to see his new designs. Lucky for me they had changed the window display since I was last here in April.

I am in absolute love with the large sand colored creation! Unfortunately I am not as keen on the fedoras but could still see myself rocking it if the opportunity presented itself.

It’s Stephen All The Way

While in London I managed to visit my love Stephen Jones’s store. Located in Covent Garden, this fierce millinery shop is worth a visit! After recently receiving the glittering coffee table book featuring his works, I couldn’t resist the temptation of taking a sneak peak at the real deal. I would absolutely love to wear the hat to my right, it would be perfect for a garden party spent with the Queen herself.

The area that the shop was located in was darling! With gorgeous, luxury five star hotels around the corner and this adorable little car.
